As usual, I've been caught by surprise with International Dog Day. I was writing an essay/post about dog books this week for the coming Saturday. Oh well. The dogs don't care when we celebrate, right? As for checklists, I do better with them always than without as long as they aren't too detailed. Then they become records of how I spent my days. The use of a checklist in medicine is essential -- because a young resident followed one several years ago, I was quickly diagnosed with a problem that was soon resolved. I appreciated her discipline and the thinking behind it.
I always enjoy reading your reviews and often rely on your recommendations. This week I ordered two copies of the dog book for Christmas presents. I wonder if your mom has started her Christmas shopping ;)
Love your recommendations, as always! Margo’s Got Money Troubles is one of my top books of 2024 so far, and I loved The Checklist Manifesto (and anything by Atul Gawande!). I love Mary Oliver and will definitely be checking that book out :)
You always have such an interesting mix of book recommendations. I've read The Checklist Manifesto, though I already used checklists a lot. Margo's Got Money Troubles sounds intriguing.
I DNF'd Margo at around 20% because I felt I wasn't the target audience, but I kept thinking about her and worrying about her, and now I'm reading it again.

And I love Oliver's Dog Songs. It's worth the occasional tear.
more than occasional if you're me.
Can't wait to celebrate dog day with my pupper! Also, Margo's Got Money Troubles truly blew me away. Have a great week!
What did you think about the first/third POV?
It worked for me! You?
For the dog lovers: one of my favorite books is The Art of Racing in the Rain. Warning - for me, this is a tearjerker.
Loved Margo’s Got Money Troubles. It was fun to root for Margo (& Jinx)!
I love Margo and Jinx so much.

Her mom might have started her Christmas shopping December 26😉
I was going to say her mom is focused on new baby shopping : )

Thank you! Margo's Got Money Troubles is so so good.
The Speckled Beauty by Rick Bragg is a *fantastic* dog book. Bragg’s accent makes it extra great on audio!
Will look it up!

This week feels particularly eclectic doesn't it.
Thank you for the dog book recommendations, so excited to check them out!
Enjoy! And thanks for the work you do.

I get that. I'm still thinking about her, and Jinx.
