Another series is character Samantha Washington (The Mystery Bookshop Series) - she owns a bookshop near Chicago and solves mysteries with her grandmother (who is a hoot!) and g-ma's 4 close friends. It is by Valerie M. Burns.
Valerie M. Burns has also written a wonderful series (3 books) Steal Away, Motherless Child, and Travellin' Shoes. It is extremely well written, plots well developed, and characters endearing and you feel you want to join the Black American Church! It is much deeper than most cozy mysteries.
