I love what Kate said about friendship being just as complex and interesting as romantic relationships. I am constantly drawn to stories that involve friends or would-be friends. This particularly makes me interested to see how she's handled this in her novels.
I also admire the hard work she's put into reading the genre and figuring out what makes it all tick for her, and then, of course, for her readers. Great interview.
