I've pre-ordered already so I don't need the give-away copy — just wanted to stop by to say I loved A Box in the Woods and can't wait to read Nine Liars!

Thrilled to see this!! Such a fun interview and seeing there will be a six and seven has me so excited. The Truly Devious series is my all time favorite mystery series and I can’t wait to see what adventure Stevie will be up to next :) another favorite is the Thursday Murder Club series by Richard Osman! Need to add all the series from the comments.

The Vinyl Dectective series by Andrew Cartel is a great series particularly if you, like me, remember listening to vinyl records!

Others have mentioned Lord Peter Wimsey (which I've loved for a while) and Louise Penny (who I've just recently discovered). Brother Cadfael is also delightful. I was first introduced to him through watching the Derek Jacobi movies as a teenager with my parents, and have recently been finding the books a welcome retreat to another world, though one with the same human hearts as today.

Are these scary?

They're definitely dark and atmospheric. There are also a few content warnings, which are listed on StoryGraph. Here's the page for The Darkness (first book): https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/9887bdba-b2a4-4fc9-aa22-4d3b222c2047

I love the Peter Wimsey series by Dorothy Sayers. It's a classic. For a more contemporary series, Tita Rosie's Kitchen by Mia Manansala is a favorite. All the talk about food always makes me so hungry.

I was so excited to see this pop up in my inbox! I loved the Truly Devious series and can't wait to dive into Nine Liars. Growing up I read The Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, and Nate the Great. I forgot how much I loved mystery books until I picked up my first Agatha Christie book as an adult. The Charlotte Holmes series is another favorite. I can't wait to see what series other readers suggest.

I love the Maisie Dobbs series and now the Thursday Murder Club series. I learned about The Three Dahalias from this newsletter and I'm hoping that turns into a series.

I loved Agatha Christie for as basically as long as I've been reading but I've recently gotten really into Dorothy Sayers Peter Wimsey books.

Growing up I was so into the Nancy Drew series and I LOVED the video games (I still play them even today and they're so fun). I re-read the first 6 or 7 books again this year and they hit me hard in the nostalgia. I plan to finish re- reading the series in 2023!

I've been reading Maureen Johnson books since like 2008 and they continue to be incredible. Nine Liars sounds like a blast.

Love the Three Pines - Louise Penny series, just started the Cork O'Conner series by William Kent Krueger but the library doesn't have them all. Also really enjoy the Laurie R. King series with Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes, very clever.

I love Louise Penny, Deborah Crombie and Jacqueline Winspear mysteries because their characters are so central and overshadow the murders.

"Like the MCU, but for Irish murder cops." Such a great description.
