I read Milkman on a cross-country flight and I think that was the perfect experience for me. I had no distractions and could really focus on it. It's a hard one to dip in and out of.
It's beautiful in its own way. I prefer Eire to Northern Ireland because the religious strife is still so noticable in North. Schools are segregated by religions as are neighborhoods in the various cities. Never say County Londonderry it's always "Derry" or Doire in Irish. And the language isn't called garlic it's just called Irish. Go to Dublin it's gorgeous
Milkman is spectacular. I recommend the Audiobook by Audible. The narration is superb.
So good to know! I will check out the audio book. I've been wanting to re-read Milkman and this may be the best way to do it.
You'll love it! The narration by Brid Brennan is immersive. Check out the sample here: https://www.audible.com/pd/Milkman-Audiobook/B07DMB4GHS

Seconded - I may have struggled with this on the page, but the audiobook was wonderful.
This makes me more determined to check out the audiobook. Thank you!
Thanks for the recs - just reserved Small Things Like These and Milkman from the library. And so the TBR gets every bigger and more daunting...
This is the nature of the TBR stack: daunting yet do alluring. I hope you enjoy these reads too.
This was great, Betsy!
Thanks, Jolene!

Great choices and as someone who has been to Northern Ireland and Ireland these books hit close to home
I've never been and have long wanted to go.
My bad I meant to say Gaelic not garlic. Im from New Hampshire originally myself
I knew what you meant! Autocorrect is not always our friend, right? Where in NH? That's where I grew up, in Jefferson.
Im from Concord
all three of this books are marvelous, thank you for capturing them so beautifully. 💕
Thank you, Courtney!
Lovely recommendations, Betsy! Milkman has been on my shelf for years! I still can't believe I haven't picked it up, and this is my push to!
Thank you, Cassie. I think you'll like it. It has to be the right time for some books. Maybe this will be it for you and Milkman.
I had no idea that these were the exact things I needed recs for 🙌🏻
I'm so glad!
