I have tried and tried with Louise Penny and have started Still Life at least three times but it has never worked for me. I will give the audio a chance, because I really want to understand the Inspector Gamache hype. Great post, as always, Elizabeth!
Still Life is a bit of a slow burn so I get it. There's a lot of world building before you get to the plot. I will say they're a bit Tana French-esque in that way. They're more character-driven than plot-driven mysteries.
