Want a mix of science and history or an Arthurian retelling
Would love to hear recs for #5!! My fave genres include:
This (adult) murder victim kind of had it coming, but Ethical Detective will solve the murder because that's their job (the dog doesn't die).
This science fiction book won't make you (even more) worried about Capitalism or the Environment.
This hot romance doesn't have misogyny, nor feature characters young enough to be your kids.
So basically escapism in various settings....
Ooh! Let's see: Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers and Iona Iverson's Rules for Commuting immediately come to mind.
Oh my, can I get any recs for #1 and #2??
I am similarly also intimidated by The Bee Sting. I really should attempt to start as so many have rec’d it to me! Another Irish novel I would add to the list is Audrey Magee’s The Colony.
I think the ultimate "I'm in Love with my Wife" book is THE VISCOUNT WHO LOVED ME. Book Anthony Bridgerton is so much better than show Anthony.
For two, THE THREE DAHLIAS, HOW TO SOLVE YOUR OWN MURDER and THE FRAMED WOMEN OF ARDMORE HOUSE.
I Loved “The Colony”. Thanks for mentioning it. From a review: ”The Colony shows that it’s women who bear the brunt of nostalgia for traditions.”
I love these genre lists! Currently mine are:
- I am not a detective, but by God, I will solve this murder
- I think I want to bone the Duke?
- Magic is real and I just found out about it
- Oh no, I think being a woman might be a scam!
- Oh no, I think being married might be a scam!
These are all so good.
Also...Brooklyn, great Irish novel...
I loved The Bee sting...and yes, bloody hell, that ending!!!
I finished it months ago and am STILL thinking about it.
