Maus is a great - although very dark - graphic novel.

‘My Boyfriend is a Bear’ by Pamela Ribbon and Cat Farris is a wonderful graphic novel. ‘Sabrina’ by Nick Drnaso is also good.

I loved Queen of the Sea by Dylan Meconis. It's all hand painted watercolors.

Also, the collected Squirrel Girl series written by Ryan North. A modern classic!

Persepolis and Fun Home are standalone modern classics well worth the honor.

Monstress by Marjorie M. Liu is an amazing, lush fantasy series. For kids & teens, Nimona by Noelle Stevenson, The Magic Fish by Trung Le Nguyen, and anything by K. O'Neill are all great!

The Thief of Always by Clive Barker comes to mind immediately as perhaps not only my favorite but the first graphic novel I ever owned. Also, Saga is rightfully quite popular.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Sweet Tooth which was adapted for tv by Netflix. The first season recently dropped.
