Oh my goodness, do I love The Summer Book! I'm a huge Tove Jansson fan but regardless, that book in particular is so lovely. Happy to see it covered here!
Great stuff! My new favorite nonfiction book is THE LITTLE BOOK OF HYGGE by Meik Wiking, it’s on how to create coziness in your home and life, and why the Danish, who invented HYGGE in one of the most challenging climates of the world, are so happy. Reminds me of the review Courtney did of the Summer Book. 😍👍🏻
Until this moment I HAD NO IDEA that Courtney and I had both written about Tove Jansson this week! What’s more, I haven’t yet read The Summer Book, so it is time for me to jump into Jansson’s “adult” books...It Is Fated.
These look great! My goal for the summer is re-learning to read for pleasure with my eyeballs. I've been listening to a lot of great audiobooks over the past eighteen months or so, courtesy of our public library's Hoopla subscription, but have not read a physical book that wasn't dissertation-related in... a while.
I'm defending my dissertation on Tuesday, and The Summer Book looks like the kind of sensory-rich experience that will be perfect for easing back in.

So perfectly said.

I just read about Tove Jansson in Doodle Dispatches and was so intrigued! Thanks for this.

Loved this book swap - and also your "10 Things" essay, Elizabeth! Happy Solstice everyone!
